Eight interactive sports wagering operators are currently licensed in North Carolina. In August, these operators generated a combined gross wagering revenue of $54.1m. The state applies an 18 percent tax rate to gross wagering revenue generated by sports betting activity, resulting in an estimated $9.7m in tax proceeds for August.

Year-to-Date Figures Since Launch
Since the launch of regulated sports wagering in March 2024, bettors have placed $6.1bn in paid wagers through the first 12 months. Additionally, the total amount wagered through free or promotional bets approached $500m during that period.
